Frequently Asked Questions

Troubleshooting
Hot tub is not heating
1. Check your water level.  Top it up, if water level is low
2. Make sure the pump is moving water.  If the spa was empty for a while, then the pump may need to be bled.
3. Check your filter.  A dirty filter in many systems can slow down the flow of water.  There must be sufficient flow for the heater to come on.  Clean your filter, reset spa.
4. Check your high limit reset.
5. Check for debris in lines or pump.  This is not usually possible unless the spa is being operated without filter parts.  Or from calcium build-up (if you are getting calcium build-up it is time to review water balance & maintenance).
6. If you have electronic controls, try resetting the spa - shut ground fault breaker down for 10 minutes, then reset, never turn off & on quickly.

Spa getting too hot
Check the outdoor temperature.  If it is warm outside and your spa pump continuously circulates, then that is likely the cause of the water getting too hot.  The pumps can put a lot of heat into the water.  If the spa hasn't been opened for a few days, then the heat has had no way of escaping.  In most cases, a good way to test if it is ambient heat or a runaway thermostat, the heat indicator light will turn on if it is due to a thermostat failure.  If it is ambient temperatures, the heat indicator light will not turn on.  Don't mistake the heat indicator for the power indicator.
